This is a magnificent pub located in the Borough Market.
It is raw and rustic. It is well worn wood on the floor, wooden bar and old rustic benches. In the windows, there are leaded glasses. There are big mingle areas, and that is good, since it is a very busy pub.
You get a lot of ales here, for some it is the premier ale pub in England. They are known to change the selection on a regular basis – you can see what they have served on the walls. The regular brand is Harvey’s. It is of course served on hand pumps.
It is a popular pub, and it can be difficult to find a seat. The crowd is a good mix of locals, market goers and ale lovers.
The Market Porter was also a part of the Harry Potter Movie – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – as the “Third Hand Book Emporium”.
Well worth a visit!
“Have I gotten that predictable? Good.”
